Steam sales are great, as we’ve covered before, and are one of the best things about PC gaming. They even help alleviate the pain from the hit your wallet took spending so much money on your sweet rig, before they go about taking all your money again.
Well, the Steam Autumn Sale (this time called the “Exploration Sale”) has landed and is running until December 1 US time, so around December 2 for those of us in Australia (even though Steam doesn’t exist here apparently). The timing of this sale is interesting given there is usually a Steam Winter/Christmas sale in the last half of December, but hey, Christmas can come early if it wants to.
The Exploration Sale is the first example of Steam’s new approach to their sales highlighted on Kotaku last week, where rather than having fluctuating daily discounts encouraging users to continuously check the store for the right time to strike, instead all the discounts will stay the same across the sale period and different ones are highlighted each day. So no more crushing disappointment of nabbing a game only to see it go to 90% off a few hours later!
Here are some of my personal highlights from skimming the plethora of offers (all in US dollars):
- Grand Theft Auto V at 40% off for $44.99
- Wolfenstein: The New Order at 85% off for $11.99
- Dying Light at 66% off for $24.47
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at 50% off for $29.99
- Life is Strange at 33% off for $13.39
- Telltale’s The Walking Dead Season 1 at 75% off for $6.24
