Cliff Bleszinski, known for his work creating the Gears of War franchise (but we all know his greatest achievement was Jazz JackRabbit on DOS), has announced his first game since leaving Epic Games in 2012. Titled LawBreakers, the game is a free-to-play sci-fi competitive FPS being developed by Boss Key Productions, the studio founded by Bleszinski and Arjan Brussee (co-founder of Guerilla Games).
A cinematic story trailer was released that details an Earth rebuilt after an event called “The Shattering”, where the Moon exploded and completely messed up Earth’s gravity. While humankind has recovered, gravity never returned to normal so society lives with anti-gravity technology, which unfortunately has given criminals more of an edge because of course it has.
Players will take sides as either super-powered criminals or the task-force assigned to combat them. The aforementioned anti-gravity tech will play a crucial role in the gameplay, with Bleszinski stating in a livestream Q&A: “You won’t want to be on the ground.”
We won’t know more about LawBreakers until the first gameplay trailer drops on the weekend, nor do we know which platforms the game will be releasing on when it drops in 2016, but stay tuned for more!
