Sometimes you want to play a good game, but you don’t have the money, or enough caps, to buy the game you want. Luckily there are a lot of free games to play on Steam, and I’m here to give you an idea of the best ones.
1. Counter-strike Nexon: Zombies
A great zombie killing game, and a spin-off from the popular Counter-Strike series. You can play PvP or PvE as well as single player or multiplayer, with the option to customise your character. It has a number of various options for gameplay, such as Classic, Zombie Infection and Scenario. It’s a fun, fast paced action game with a great deal of strategic value. There’s some new content, but also a great deal of stuff from the original Counter-Strike games. It’s a good game to play to kill a couple of hours.
2. Anno Online
If you like building a society from scratch and micro-managing every single part of it, then this is the game for you. You can now play this game as a multiplayer and work with others to achieve larger goals. This game is an excellent time waster, though it can be annoying as you will often find yourself re-starting the game as things won’t go according to plan. However, it is good if you are a control freak and want to procrastinate from responsibilities (not that I’m speaking from experience or anything…).
3. DC Universe Online
DC Universe Online is a great creative game, you can really craft your own character and become ‘famous’ in your own right. You aren’t constricted by the confines of pre-existing characters, so you can truly create a unique hero/villain. You can, however, interact with classic characters like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the like.
It is a multiplayer online game, which means that you can team up with other people to ensure that you’re the best villain or hero that you can be. Play this game if you’re a nerd of two-flavours, video game and comic.
This game is brutal, but lots of fun. You play as a Tenno, a warrior called to the front lines after centuries in cryogenic sleep. Story aside, when it boils down to it Warframe is basically ninja battles in space, which is probably the best sentence you’ll ever read other than ‘free bacon’.
Like many of the other games I’ve mentioned, Warframe can be single or multi-player. They’ve updated this game quite a bit so there’s a bunch of new content, such as new planets, weapons and dojo’s so if you want to play a ninja-space-war game, this is the one for you.
5. Mitos.is: The Game
This indie game is weird, there’s no other way to say it. You play as a cell, and the aim of the game is to gain other cells, to grow bigger whilst avoiding viruses. Just as addictive as candy crush, but you can lie to yourself and say that its educational and that you’re learning about science. When in reality you’re just playing the science version of building a rubber band ball. That being said its a fun background game and a nice one to check out.
