Lionhead Studios to close and Fable Legends cancelled

Today it was announced that Fable Legends has been cancelled after four years in development, which started back in 2012.

It also looks like the beloved studio behind the Fable and Black & White games, Lionhead Studios, could be closing down for good as well. Part of the statement from Microsoft regarding this closure reads:

After much consideration we have decided to cease development on Fable Legends, and are in discussions with employees about the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios in the UK. Additionally, we will close Press Play Studios in Denmark, and sunset development on Project Knoxville.

This news could spell out the end of the Fable series entirely, which is a huge loss for the gaming world. A proper revisit to the formula of Fable one and two would have been amazing on the Xbox One.

RIP Fable Legends, here’s hoping you are succeeded by another adventure in Albion.
