Well, we can all stop looking at “leaks” and weird poop emoji tweets because Activision and developer Infinity Ward have confirmed that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is a real thing. And it has a trailer with a poorly used, terrible cover of a famous song and everything.
It seems the game is taking Call of Duty into the realms of full on science fiction, with battles taking place not only on Earth but in and around fleets of spaceships. Plot details are minimal, with the trailer briefly mentioning a group called the Settlement Defence Front instigating the “biggest surprise attack in the history of the world” and the official press release stating “the player, as Captain of their own warship, must take command against a relentless enemy.” How all that will lead to galactic warfare, well that’s anyone’s guess.
Here’s the trailer:
That use of Space Oddity. *Shudder*
The trailer also confirms the news that the “Legacy Edition” of Infinite Warfare will include a remastered version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, arguably the best game of the entire franchise and most definitely one of the most influential shooters in gaming history. The new version boasts revamped textures, HDR lighting, and improved effects and animation in the entire campaign and 10 of the multiplayer maps. Personally, I might be a little more excited for this remaster than I am for the new game…
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is slated for release on November 4, the same time as all the previous entries in the series, for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.
