Warner Bros released a trailer overnight for Injustice 2, the sequel to their previous arcade fighter featuring DC Comics characters Injustice: Gods Among Us. Developed by NetherRealm, the studio responsible for Mortal Kombat, the game will be launching sometime in 2017.
And I gotta say, it features probably the most badass Superman I’ve seen in a long time. Heck, it even makes The Flash seem awesome, and that’s no easy feat.
In a post on the Playstation Blog, NetherRealm’s community specialist Tyler Lansdown said that new characters will be coming to Injustice 2 who were previously not featured in the original. Supergirl is one of them, as glimpsed in the trailer, but no word on who the others might be. Lansdown also promises more environments and to take “environment destruction and interaction to the next level.”
Injustice 2 will also featured a “Gear System”, allowing players to create their own versions of the likes of Batman and Superman, both cosmetically but also in regards to their fighting style. The Gear System is described as “RPG-like” and is handled through loot drops given every time you play the game.
Here’s hoping this isn’t leading into a system of loot drops being random, but microtransactions can increase their frequency, ala Overwatch. Because microtransactions in full price games are bad.
