Skyrim is looking pretty good on PS4

While PC players have been struggling to get excited about the remaster of Skyrim launching this week, what with mods and high resolution texture packs for the original already doing the job for them (yeah, yeah, master race joke), console players are in for a treat if this comparison video is anything to go by. (Also Bethesda have confirmed that Skyrim Special Edition will be getting mod support on PS4 and Xbox One, contrary to previous announcements, so there’s that too).

On Saturday, the Playstation Access YouTube channel released this video showcasing the visual differences between the 2011 PS3 version and the upcoming PS4 Special Edition. Aside from reminding us that the PS3 version actually still looks OK considering its age, it’s the wealth of more detailed grass and trees, as well as the way light reacts to the environment and weather that make the PS4 version appear to shine. I mean, check out those “god rays”…

Now we just have to hope the PS4 version doesn’t start lagging and dropping frames once your save file gets too big, because on PS3 that was the worst.

Skyrim Special Edition releases on October 28 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
